The Annapolis Valley Reg. Centre for Education is hosting a group of Korean students.  Host families are needed!!

We are very excited to announce that the AVRCE is continuing our partnership with Cheongju Daeseong Elementary School in Korea, and is inviting elementary aged students from Korea to Nova Scotia to live with families and attend our schools in the Annapolis Valley. The students vary from grades 4-6. They are arriving on November 24th, 2019 and departing January 18th, 2020. This is an exciting opportunity for our students and families to experience the Korean culture in their own home. Students will live with a host family that has a child similar in age/gender/grade. They do not require their own bedroom. They can share with a host sibling. All students speak English. Host families will receive financial assistance for hosting a student.  For more information on this program or how to become a host family, please contact; Rob Davies at: robert.davies@avrce.ca

People can still donate books to us off of our online Indigo registry till December 31st. This is a direct link to our online registry,

Some thoughts to share at the dinner table after a day at school….

  •

Why do you think it’s important that friends, teachers, and students help each other during the school day?

  •

What does it mean to have courage? Have you ever had to be brave?

    COMMUNITY NEWS

  •

TapRoot Farms (Where out Nourish Your Roots food boxes come from)

  • On October 27th we are hosting out first fun run on the Farm!  Our intent is to bring together members of our CSA and the community at large to walk, run, skip or saunter and around the 3 km loop of the farm.

At TapRoot we are constantly working to create resilient, healthy farmland, producing healthy food to keep out bodies moving.  This event is to celebrate our bodies in motion in whichever way is best for you!

Along the 3 km loop you will get to meet some of the animals on the far. And keep your eyes out for Photo Stations.

This event is one of our last on-Farm activities until December.  It is a chance to come out have some fun and explore the changing season on the farm.  With the run being so close to Halloween, feel free to dress up for the occasion.

We will have hot and cold beverage available and some seasons snack.  Donations are always welcome and will go towards hospitality and future events.  Call to register:  902-542-3277

    Sunday October 27th    10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • Tidal Spirit Taekwondo

  • Taekwondo is not about fighting, it's about knowing you don't have to.  We teach our students body movement and control, confidence and the ability to persevere.  Younger students focus on balance, coordination, and fitness, while older students and Adults work on honing the skills we teach.  If you are looking for something different, Taekwondo is an individual sport where you progress at your own pace but are still part of a larger team.  First class is free.  Classes are Monday, Wednesday and Sunday at our Avonport Location, and Thursdays at our Port Williams Location. Come check it out and ask about our specials.
